Dr Sudhir Prabhu opened his private practice in Jacksonville in 1982. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.

Dr. Prabhu earned his doctor of medicine at the University of Bombay (India) with several academic awards. He has always been active in extracurricular activities. He was involved in student government and also played basketball and cricket for his college. He arrived in the US in 1975 and became a naturalized citizen in 1981.He completed his residency and fellowship training at the Long Island College Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Prabhu is a Past-president of the Florida Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Society. He has published numerous articles in medical journals and presented at medical conferences throughout the United States. Over the years he has treated thousands of allergy and asthma sufferers and has gained wide respect for his expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide spectrum of conditions in his specialty.

He is well known for his deep concern for his patients. Many comment on his willingness to listen and take the time to understand their symptoms and develop a treatment plan that positively impacts their daily living.

His empathy and concern for good health spills into the community through his volunteer efforts with the American Red Cross, the American Lung Association and the I.M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless. In 1992, he founded the Community Asthma Partnership (CAP); a grass roots volunteer organization providing asthma education and care, primarily to Jacksonville’s indigent and underserved children. This mission continues today as CAP at Wolfson Children’s Hospital(CAP-W).He has received many awards and recognition for his volunteerism, including the NFL Community Quarterback Award from the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has chaired the Healthy Jacksonville 2010 Asthma Project and served as Pediatric Allergy and Immunology Section Chief at Wolfson and other area hospitals for many years.

Dr. Prabhu’s charitable efforts also spread internationally through his work as Executive Vice President of Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of USA. Ekal’s mission is to build schools and educational programs in remote rural India to eradicate illiteracy and promote health education and economic development.

Dr. Prabhu is married and has two sons, Rohan and Shan, all part of an extended medical family. His wife, Prasanna, is a well respected radiologist in Jacksonville. Rohan is a healthcare consultant for a national consulting firm and Shan is a physician training to be a radiation oncologist.

Even with his hectic schedule, Dr. Prabhu balances his life with traveling, studying other cultures, world events, philosophy and enjoying art, music and cuisine from around the world.
